Irene is a product of Delano schools having attended Fremont and Delano High School. She has been involved in education for the past 15 years and has always had a strong belief that education is the key to success! Her children have also shared that same belief.  Irene’s 2 daughters, Melissa Garza-Reyna and Jennifer Padilla, have both received their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and have both worked in the education system for numerous years. Irene’s son, professional fitness trainer, Daniel Martinez, has educated many individuals on how to lead a fit and healthy life.

Irene has personally worked with the community here in Delano to ensure that all children receive the best education possible. For the past 9 years, Irene has worked for the Delano High School district as an attendance clerk and more recently, as a Student Services Workability secretary. She knows the importance of having our children attend school on a daily basis and will do whatever it takes to ensure students are safe and have a friendly environment to learn. For the past 2 years, Irene has helped high school students secure employment, without which many of these students would not have been able to contribute to their family’s financial needs. Prior to working for the Delano High School district, Irene was a preschool teacher here in Delano for 6 years.

On Irene’s spare time, she enjoys taking trips to the beach and spending as much time as she can with her 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Megan, and Anthony.

Making decisions for our youth and educators is something Irene takes very seriously. She looks forward to meeting and speaking with everyone in our wonderful city of Delano!
