Superintendent's Message Winter

Dear Staff,

Happy New Year and Welcome back! I hope you had a joyful and relaxing break. As we are prepared to warmly welcome back our students on Tuesday, I wanted to share a few important reminders to help maintain a safe and healthy environment and keep our schools open and thriving. We will all need to do our part to stop the spread of the virus-now more than ever. DUSD has put multiple measures in place to keep students and staff healthy and safe; however, we believe that the safest place for students is at home at this time, and we are highly recommending that  parents consider remote learning as an option. Because we are not authorized at this time to transition to virtual instruction, our schools will continue to remain open.  Parents who are interested in enrolling their child in the DUSD Remote Learning Academy should contact their school site to begin the registration process.  Our district recently received COVID-19 rapid test kits from Governor Newsom’s office that will be distributed for student use.  School sites will be distributing test kits this week and parents will be encouraged to test their child by Monday, January 10th. Students who receive a positive test result will be placed on short term independent study.

The district will be providing KN95 masks for all staff members. All staff will be COVID-19 tested upon their return to work on Monday January 10th. Please notify your supervisor if you are having any COVID-19 symptoms.

You will be receiving an email from Linda Hinojosa regarding updated district safety protocols. Please read that email carefully.

Again, Happy New Year and Welcome Back! Let’s continue to work as one strong and united team.
