State Pre-School (CSPP)
Days of Week -- Monday - Friday
Ages Served -- 3-5 years (Priority for age 4)
Child Care Hours :Morning Session: 7:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 11:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Months of Operation: July through June
Eligibility: Income Based
State preschools offer half-day programs that focus on the developmental needs of the total child. The program includes a nutritious breakfast or lunch, health screenings, and parent education. Curriculum priorities are language development, conceptual adventures, and socialization skills to prepare children for a successful kindergarten experience. Speech/language and special education services are provided. ADA-approved, non-ambulatory sites are available. There are no fees for this program. However, family size and income determine a child’s eligibility.

SRI Preschool (First 5 Kern-funded)Days of Week -- Monday - Friday

Eligibility: Live within the boundaries of the Delano Union School District
SRI Preschool, which is funded through a grant from First 5 Kern, offers two half-day programs (one AM and one PM) that focus on the developmental needs of the total child. The program includes a nutritious breakfast or lunch, health screenings, and parent education. Curriculum priorities are language development, conceptual adventures, and socialization skills to prepare children for a successful kindergarten experience. Speech/language and special education services are provided. Site is ADA-approved and licensed for non-ambulatory children. No fees are charged for this program, but families must live within the boundaries of the Delano Union School District.

Eligibility: Low income working familiesThe focus of this full-day preschool program is on the developmental needs of the total child. The program includes nutritious meals, health and community resource screenings, and parent education. Curriculum priorities are language development, conceptual adventures, and socialization skills to prepare children for a successful kindergarten experience. Speech/language and special education services are provided. Site is ADA-approved and licensed for non-ambulatory children. Fees are based upon family size and income.

Pre-Kindergarten Family Literacy (CSPP)Days of Week -- Monday - Friday
Ages Served -- 3-5 years (Priority for age 4)
Months of Operation: Year-Round (245 days per year)
Eligibility: 90% minimum Low income working families; 10% maximum Full Fee working families (whose income does not exceed 15% of the maximum eligibility amount)The focus of this full-day preschool program is on the developmental needs of the total child, with special emphasis on literacy to prepare children for kindergarten. The program includes nutritious meals, health and community resource screenings, and parent education. Curriculum priorities are literacy, language development, conceptual adventures, and socialization skills to prepare children for a successful kindergarten experience. Speech/language and special education services are provided. Site is ADA-approved and licensed for non-ambulatory children. Fees are based upon family size and income.
